How do I know what flood zone I am in?

The official environment agency (EA) flood map for planning is the most widely accepted method that all local authorities use when determining if they require a site-specific Flood Risk Assessment based upon whether the property has a high risk level.

How to find your flood zone
1. Entering your postcode on the Flood Map for Planning. This will tell you whether your land is in flood zone 1, 2 or 3.
2. By using the check long term flood risk service, which will give you access to maps showing long term flood risk for both surface water and rivers.

3. Searching your postcode on our flood map service.

Interpreting the Results
Flood Zone 1: low probability
Flood zone 2: medium probability
Flood Zone 3: high probability

NOTE: If your property is in either zone 2 or zone 3 then you must produce an FRA.
