Exception Test
The Exception Test is a planning requirement applied after a Sequential Test to demonstrate that a development provides wider sustainability benefits to the community that outweigh flood risk. If you are building social housing in Flood Zone 3, you must pass the Exception Test by proving the community needs the homes and that you have engineered the site to be safe.
