Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS)
A Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS) is a long-term strategic plan that sets out how a region should develop over 15-20 years, including the distribution of housing, infrastructure, and priorities for environmental and economic development. Speak with a consultant about how regional planning context affects your flood risk obligations. The GOV.UK national planning policy framework has largely replaced RSS guidance in current planning practice.

Case Example
An RSS identifies a city as a key growth area, directing higher levels of housing and infrastructure investment there, which local plans must follow when allocating sites for development.
