Run-off
Run-off refers to the portion of rainfall that flows over the surface of the ground rather than infiltrating into the soil, typically draining into watercourses, sewers, or drainage systems. Speak with a consultant about calculating post-development discharge rates. Run-off management requirements are detailed in the national SuDS standards.

Case Example
A Greenfield site developed into housing increases impermeable surfaces such as roofs and roads, leading to higher runoff rates requiring SuDS to control discharge and prevent downstream flooding.
