Greenfield Land

Greenfield land refers to land that is currently undeveloped, often consisting of farmland, woodland, or open recreational spaces that have not been previously built upon. Speak with a consultant about drainage requirements before developing. The national SuDS standards set out how greenfield runoff rates must be managed in new developments.

Case Example

Building new homes on agricultural land at the edge of a town is a Greenfield development, requiring the drainage strategy to mimic natural runoff rates to avoid increasing flood risk.
