Planning Policy Statement (PPS)
Planning Policy Statements (PPS) were formal documents issued by the UK Government that set out national planning policy. Speak with a consultant about how legacy PPS policy, particularly PPS25, continues to influence flood risk decisions. The GOV.UK flood risk and coastal change guidance has superseded PPS25 but its principles remain embedded in current planning practice.

Case Example
Under PPS25, the redevelopment of Oxford’s West End required the council to apply the Sequential Test, then the Exception Test to justify development in a high flood risk area.
