Surface Water Flooding
Surface Water Flooding is often the result of high peak rainfall intensities and/or insufficient capacity in the sewer network. Speak with a consultant to assess surface water risk and appropriate SuDS mitigation for your site. How surface water flood risk is assessed in planning is set out in the GOV.UK flood risk and coastal change guidance.

Case Example
During intense rainfall in Oxford, water runs off roads and roofs faster than drains can cope, causing surface water to pool in low-lying streets and flood properties even though nearby rivers remain within their banks.
